The Basics

CBD stands for Cannabidiol – a plant compound found abundantly in hemp plants.

For generations, hemp has been used as a botanical miracle in helping people with their health. In recent years, there has been a resurgence in the use of hemp due to its natural therapeutic properties.

Cannabis Sativa is the botanical plant name for hemp, which is a member of the Cannabaceae plant family. Cannabidiol is just one of over 80 natural plant compounds found in this species of cannabis.

Cannabidiol is the main active ingredients in popular CBD products, where powerful natural extracts are extracted from hemp and are used to create oils, capsules, edibles, infused skincare and much more.

It is thought by scientists that the compound cannabidiol has the potential to help maintain balance in the mind and body, by interacting with your internal endocannabinoid system. This system helps control bodily functions such as appetite, mood, immune response, pain, and sleep patterns.

The endocannabinoid system is a homeostatic regulator of neuronal activity and almost every other physiological system in the body. It has a regulatory role on pain, inflammation, memory, emotion, sleep and metabolic function.

It comprises a vast network of receptors in the brain, central and peripheral nervous system and cannabis-like compounds called endocannabinoids.

It has been likened to a dimmer switch, constantly working to bring balance when there is too much or too little activity in the body.

CBD and other plant cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system, which researchers believe may explain some of the reported physiological effects of the cannabis plant.

Recent research has demonstrated that active compounds from other plant species such as carrot (Daucus carota), kava (Piper methyscum), New Zealand liverwort (Radula marginata), ginger (Zingiber officinale) and black pepper (Piper nigrum) contain compounds which interact with the endocannabinoid system.

Whilst CBD and THC are both natural compounds found in the cannabis plant (cannabinoids - or better yet, phytocannabinoids), they are, however, different in the following ways:

  • CBD is not psychotropic and therefore will not make you high, whereas THC is – and will create that euphoric effect
  • THC interacts with our CB1 receptor, whereas CBD’s mechanism of action focuses on our CB2 receptor
  • THC has a high-binding affinity for our CB1 receptor, meaning it fits perfectly into this receptor site. CBD has a low binding affinity for our CB2 receptors, preferring to regulate the release of our naturally produced endocannabinoids like Anandamide, which have high binding affinity for our CB2 receptors
  • CBD is abundant in hemp, while THC dominates in other types of cannabis
  • Hemp-derived CBD products are legal in most countries, whereas THC is not

CBD stands for cannabidiol while CBN stands for cannabinol. Both are natural cannabinoids that come from the cannabis plant. However, CBD is more naturally abundant in the plant, whereas CBN is less common and is converted from THC molecules. It only appears after oxidation.

Benefits & Dosage

The cannabinoids that the cannabis plant produces are very similar to endocannabinoids produced by the human body and therefore could have huge potential in helping the body and mind to find balance and general, overall wellness.

However, due to the current federal regulations of some countries, we can not make claims about what results our products will produce. You are unique in your genetic makeup and will need to find the product that works best for you. However, customers post open and honest product reviews on our website, and we post customer reviews daily on our social media pages that you may find useful and love to take a look at.

Firstly, we are all different and we are all unique. So finding the 'perfect strength' is very subjective and individual. It's also important to remember that we are not medical professionals. Therefore, we cannot give specific strength nor dosage recommendations. So this question is difficult to answer.

We can only roughly suggest that:

  • If you are new to using CBD oil, you might like to try the 1000mg/50mL or 2000mg/100mL CBD oils (same CBD strength but relative to bottle mL size). This strength is not only a great introduction to our products, but also CBD oil in general, at an affordable price.
  • If you regularly use/consume CBD products, have a generally active lifestyle, or are just looking for phytocannabinoids and phytochemicals, the 3000mg/100mL CBD oils are perfect for you.
  • If you live a very active lifestyle, or if you have been regularly using/consuming CBD products for a long period of time, the 3600mg/100mL, 2000mg/10mL are the CBD oils you might love to try.

Firstly, we are all different and we are all unique. So finding the 'perfect single dose amount' is very subjective and individual. It's also important to remember that we are not medical professionals. Therefore, we cannot give specific strength nor dosage recommendations.

Generally, people take 1-2 dropper servings per single dose. However, it is always best to start low and steadily find your personal 'sweet spot' from there.

Feeling & Effects

CBD helps to support our body in maintaining homeostasis. It does this by interacting with our endocannabinoid system – a hugely important system in all human and animal bodies that is involved in helping to control functions such as your mood, appetite, sleep and immune response by helping to bring about balance in our bodies.

There are some scientific experiments that indicate that cannabinoids work in a similar way to the endocannabinoids that the human body already produces in healthy people. However, the mechanisms of action are still not entirely clarified.

Many people who are currently using CBD products claim and report that CBD makes them feel lower levels of pain, calmer, more relaxed, and focused.

However, it’s hard to determine what you, as an individual, will feel from using CBD, as it is very subjective. But, don't worry, you won't feel "high". Remember, CBD is non-psychoactive.

No, no, no! Don't worry, CBD is 100% non-psychoactive. Therefore, it does not get you high. THC is actually the compound that gets you high. Not CBD.

All Help products contain high levels of pure CBD: a natural compound found in the hemp plant.

Although THC can be present in CBD, it’s at such a low percentage that it’s nowhere near enough to get you high (0.3% maximum).

It’s believed that CBD stays in your system for approximately two to five days. However, everyone is different and so the amount of time it takes for the molecule to leave your body completely depends on your body. It also depends, of course, on how much CBD oil has been taken.

If drug testing is part of your profession always do your research before you start taking CBD. We can’t give medical, professional, or legal advice. So we advise that you always check your employer’s policy or the latest drug testing information on CBD before you take CBD products.

Most CBD products are derived from hemp, which means their THC levels will be less than the legal 0.3%.

Jobs including teachers, law enforcement officers, and government workers may be required to do mandatory drug testing at different periods during the year and some companies have a zero THC policy.

Full-spectrum CBD products derived from hemp have very low and often untraceable amounts of THC in them. However, there is still a possibility that even tiny trace amounts could show a false positive.

For people that are subject to random/routine drug testing, we recommend trying our CBD isolate products.

Please ensure you talk with your employer before taking CBD products, if you are concerned about drug testing, and don’t hesitate to reach out to our very helpful Help Team via live chat.

It’s important to remember that while CBD is safe for you to use, it can potentially interfere with other medications. This is because of how CBD is metabolised by your body and the possibility that it can alter how your body normally metabolises your other medication.

If your medication isn’t metabolised properly, the medication might not work. Instead, it may stay in your system longer than desired, or in a form that your body doesn’t like, leading to negative side effects and potential complications. For example, taking CBD with blood thinners can maybe result in them not breaking down in your system. However, there’s a chance that CBD can make your medication more effective – so much so that you might even be able to reduce your regular medication dosage.

The best thing to do is to ask your doctor or medical professional if you can take grapefruit with your medication. Grapefruits can also mess with the metabolism of a variety of medications, so if your doctor says no to grapefruit then you’ll have to be careful about mixing CBD with your medication. Of course, we always recommend discussing CBD with your doctor anyway – especially if you’re already taking medication.

Our Products

All Help products contain the highest standard of pure, natural CBD extract that is CO2 extracted.

CO2 extraction performs at lower temperatures than other extraction methods. This makes it better at preserving CBD, terpenes, and flavors of the plant. CO2 extraction is also much better for the environment. As such, the CO2 extraction method is generally the most desireable.

No wonder our products have been rated #1 in the industry!

As all of our products are made with 100% pure, natural ingredients, sometimes the colour can vary slightly from batch to batch.

Help products are not made with any additives or dyes to standardise the color of our products. We prefer to let nature be natural. This way, you’re left with only 100% natural CBD oil of the highest quality - just the way Mother Nature intended.

If you experience a color difference from product to product that is due to the natural, seasonal variation in our hemp crops. We thoroughly test each and every batch to ensure our usual, top quality, and that the amount of hemp extract stays consistent in each product.

Have a product batch number? Why not search it to find your product's quality control report.

Yes, of course! Mother Nature is never harsh, and is always sensitive to our sensitive skin.

Yes, of course! We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we're serious about the right things. One of those being open, honest, transparency. That's why, for all of our products, you will be able to search your product's batch number (circle sticker on the product container) on our CBD Quality Control Reports page to find the batch quality control report for your product.

Help's CBD Isolate products contain 0.00% THC. Whereas, our standard, full-spectrum CBD products contain no more than 0.3% THC. This tiny amount of 0.3% THC is within the legal THC limit of CBD products and will not get you 'high'.
